Vale Geoff Wright

Jan 07, 2018 by

It is with great sadness that the Brisbane Strikers advise of and acknowledge the passing of our long-serving Director, Mr Geoff Wright.

Mr Wright passed away recently after a long and brave fight against illnes. He is survived by wife Jacqui, son Anderson and daughters Peta and Elise.

Mr Wright had been involved with the club from its outset and had been a Director since the 1990s. He was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame last year in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the club that included all manner of duties. These ranged from his membership on the boards and committees necessary to keep the club ticking over, to sponsoring the club, selling tickets during our tenure of Ballymore, doing the announcements over the club’s public address system on match days and cooking chips in the canteen.

There was no facet of the club’s operations that Mr Wright did not contribute to and all of it was done with the gentle joviality and good humour and optimism that marked him as a gentleman in a world that often seems to have too few of them.

Geoff Wright will be greatly missed at this club and even more by his family, to whom we offer our deepest condolences.
