Strikers’ Young Stars Take Centre Stage

Sep 12, 2017 by

A season of achievement was recognised and applauded at Perry Park on Sunday at the Brisbane Strikers’ PlayStation ® 4 National Premier Leagues Junior Awards Presentations.

Adding a little lustre to the occasion, several of the big boys from the club’s back-to-back premiership winning squad, and new Senior Coach Owen Baker were on hand to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the club’s outstanding junior performers.

The awards proved hotly-contested, with the trophies for “most consistent” in two age groups being shared between dual winners.

The following were the awards winners for 2017:

Under 16s:
Most consistent – Cade McDermott
Most improved – Jacob Elliot

Under 15s:
Most consistent – Jess Toscano
Most improved – Aydan Joku

Under 14s:
Most consistent – Josh Moreland, Bavan Atwal
Most improved – Oscar Barwick

Under 13s:
Most consistent – Jaden Fidra
Most improved – Dominic Van Breemen

Under 12s:
Most consistent – Jacob Singleton, Blade Milini
Most improved – Kian Thompson

Another big winner on the day was Paul Egan, who was awarded the Len Deverall Shield (presented to outstanding volunteers) for his efforts over several years that have encompassed a wide gamut of activities ranging from helping the club with its information technology to cleaning up the grounds after flooding.

Congratulations to all awards winners, but also to all of our players, coaching, managerial and back-up staff on a season that saw lots of highs, very few lows and plenty of progress in player development.
