Strikers Seek Consistency Against the Jets

Feb 28, 2020 by

The Brisbane Strikers return to Perry Park for their third home game in a week, this Saturday night, taking on Moreton Bay Jets in an NPL QLD clash.

Strikers are looking to return to winning ways following back-to-back 2-1 losses against Brisbane City and Gold Coast Knights and goalkeeper Brendan White believes it’s a case of putting the final touches on good performances.

“We’ve been playing well, some good football and I think it’s a case of making that breakthrough in the final third,” White said.

“The Jets will be a good side; everyone has given us a tough game this season, we will have to be disciplined as we have been all season and hopefully it can click and we get the result that we want.”

Strikers veteran Michael McGowan believes that finding greater consistency will be key for Saturday’s game the remainder of the season.

“We have played well for spells in all of our opening games but for me, it’s not enough to just have a good half or a good 20-minutes,” McGowan said.

“We need to be able to perform well for the full game and once we start doing that it will reflect in the results.”

The Moreton Bay Jets are yet to lose so far this season, earning a win and a draw from their opening two fixtures and Head Coach Owen Baker says it will be another tough test for his squad.

“It’s been tough for us in the last two games, especially when we’ve had spells of really good play but we need to learn from our mistakes, recover well for the game and ensure that we turn our performances into wins as quickly as possible,” Baker said.
