McDermott and Strikers Ready for Challenging Match-up with Newly Promoted Capalaba

Brisbane Strikers midfielder Cade McDermott says that he and his teammates are prepared for what will be difficult away-day against Capalaba at John Fredericks Park this Saturday.

Capalaba, who were promoted after finished in 2nd place in the 2019 FQPL standings, have enjoyed a successful start to life in the top flight of Queensland notching up two wins from their first four games in the league this season.

Having their one and only home match this season, the Bulldogs will be motivated to further solidify their home fortress with another good result.

Strikers prepare for the game having last week earned a draw against an in-form Brisbane Roar Youth side away from home.

Cade McDermott says that although the performance against Roar was a big improvement upon previous performances, Strikers still have another level to reach.

“Capalaba have a good side and they’ll be motivated against us,” McDermott said.

“I think last week we put in a good performance but I feel like we still have a lot of room to improve and we want to show that this weekend.”

Ryan Palmer echoed the sentiment of his midfield partner saying that it was disappointed not to have beaten Roar Youth last week but the team is growing confidence.

“I think it’s pretty simple against Capalaba, we need a win and we’re going to do everything we can it get one, nothing more to it,” Palmer said.

Head Coach Owen Baker says that Capalaba will be a tough side to contend with away from and the boys will need to prepare themselves for a hostile atmosphere.
