IMPORTANT NOTE: Magpies Crusaders Fixture Moved To Cleveland Showgrounds

Aug 21, 2018 by

The Brisbane Strikers wish to advise that the venue for Saturday’s final home fixture of the 2018 NPL Queensland season, against Magpies Crusaders, has been shifted to the Cleveland Showgrounds at 6.00 pm.

The venue switch was considered by Strikers management to be necessary to ensure the playing surface at Strikers’ home ground, Perry Park, is presented in the best possible condition for the following Wednesday’s FFA Cup Round of 16 televised match between Lions FC and Adelaide United.

Strikers Chairman, Bruce Atterton-Evans, explained that the weekend weather forecast had been influential in making the decision to move the Magpies Crusaders fixture.

“We are working hard to ensure the playing surface at Perry Park is in the best condition it can be to host the Lions-Adelaide United fixture, and we felt that if it rains on Saturday and we play our match the pitch would be affected and would not recover by Wednesday,” Atterton-Evans said.

“Given our commitments to the two teams and everyone else involved in the FFA Cup fixture, we decided we needed to play elsewhere.

“Redlands United have graciously agreed to let us use their home ground, so we’ve had to make an early call on this so that everyone can put arrangements in place for the weekend.

“The Brisbane Strikers football club apologises to fans for any inconvenience this might cause.”
