Brisbane Strikers has confirmed the departure of Korean attacker Dong-yoo Kim due to injury.

The 23-year-old has returned to his native South Korea for treatment of a double hernia that has curtailed his contributions over the past month.

Kim switched to Brisbane Strikers mid-season from Moreton Bay United, making 16 appearances across the National Premier Leagues and FFA Cup – scoring six goals.

Brisbane Strikers coach Owen Baker said Kim made a telling contribution to his side’s campaign – including their record-breaking run to the FFA Cup Quarter Finals.

“Dong came in at a good time for us and added value to the team and it is unfortunate for him to get injured at this stage of the year,” Baker said.

“We thank him for his contribution this season. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and we look forward to catching up with him again in the future.”

Kim thanked the club and his teammates for a season that saw him quickly endear himself to Strikers supporters.

“It was my pleasure to meet new people at the club. Thank you so much to my teammates at Brisbane Strikers,” Kim said.

Kim was one of Brisbane Strikers’ two designated visa players under the National Premier Leagues Queensland Player Points System.
