City Draw First Blood On Derby Weekend

Apr 07, 2018 by

Brisbane City’s Under-20s team struck the first blow for their club on derby weekend against the Brisbane Strikers when they won 5-2 at Perry Park last night.

Early goals to City captain Paul Falso and Jamie Dimitroff put Strikers on the back foot before Josh Matcham (pictured) pulled a goal back for Strikers in the forty-second minute. City’s Kai Fiechtner then scored in first half stoppage time to have the visitors ahead 3-1 at the break.

Joel Anich’s fiftieth minute goal gave Strikers hope of salvaging a result, but then two goals in as many minutes from Fiechtner and Koh Satake put City ahead by the eventual final score before a red card to Strikers defender Tom Ellis forced Strikers to end the match with ten men.

We’ll be hoping our senior men’s team can turn the tables on City TONIGHT when the two teams take the field at 6.00 pm.
